Welcome to the 2007 Permian Technology Conference

Conference Workshops
Build Your Own Linux Box (BYOLB)

Workshop Fee: $25.00

Please bring the following:

One server & Laptop to burn CDs/DVDs and to connect to server

Minimum specifications for BYOLB server with Moodle on the same box

- A minimum of 1GHz processor
- 2 Gig RAM (formula for users: 1 Gig per 50 user accounts)
- Disk space - 80G - Fast disks - NIC of 100mhz or more
- A CD-R or DVD-R

Most no-OS pre-installed Dell servers are Linux compatible.

Naturally, bigger is better and faster is better. Much depends upon number of accounts and the activities chosen within each course (chat is very memory intensive).

If you are re-purposing a machine, one that has been manufactured within the last 4 years, it should be hardware compatible. Having said that, however, nothing is assured.
